PERMISSIONS AND OPT-INS

eyediotPhobias: Jon is from a horror podcast that deals with fears and phobias in a very real, physically tangible sense as the Entities have all marked him and then destroyed his world. If there are any phobias you personally have, or you would like to avoid threading for your character, please please let me know. It's kind of been his entire life the last seven years between Research and then the Archives so it's very fresh and real on his mind.
One promise I can make is that sexual assault and pet death are off the table and will not ever be touched. The writer of TMA explicitly stated he hates those topics being used for horror, did not use them, and thus Jon has no reason to ever bring either topic up. So you're safe from those here!

Hey so Jon's some WILD Archivist abilities. Feel free to opt into any specific abilities or all of them! I will note, in threads, any time his Archivist ability is happening, I use a colored font in the text to note when it is active and what specifically is Jon's ability coming into play.
If you want to opt in to of any or all of these abilities being used on your character(s), please just let me know below! For folks who want to mess around with all this, I generally try to communicate directly what's going on and ask what he's allowed to do. Also hey if you change your mind and want to opt out later, or opt back into something at a later time I am 100% down for it!
Characters who are not opted in to these abilities, or only specific ones, Jon will just simply not be able to use his powers on them. Simple as that!

Compulsion - The Archivist is able to compel others to answer a question or give a statement. It is implied that it can be taken a step further and compel someone to physically do something against their will. For someone with a low enough strength of will, it feels like a gentle suggestion. It is possible to resist the compulsion, but almost everyone who has successfully resisted has been affiliated with an Entity or is an Avatar themselves.
Knowing - The Archivist is able to Know certain things without having prior knowledge of them. This most often happens with relevant information to statements or the situation at hand. Jon has experienced pain while purposely trying to Know what an Entity is planning. The Archivist can only see actual facts, past or present - this can amount to experiences, history, what someone is/was thinking or feeling in a situation. The Archivist is not able to know anything about the future, nor is he able to see anything in a hypothetical or a choice. This includes things that have happened in Pixie Led. He would be able to Know about conversations, actions, and feelings. So if there is any specific thing or topic you would not want him to know, please please tell me. (In short: this is basically canonical infomodding). I tend to use this for comedy rather than drama or circumventing anything so please know: it'll be for the goofs. The bit. The laugh.
Archivist's Presence - When the Archivist is present with them, statement givers are able to eloquently and coherently tell their stories in a narratively interesting statement, regardless of their background or emotional state. This is highlighted when Jon is in America and the Archival assistants have to take statements from people. The result is that the statement givers tell short, curt statements, often going off-topic and needing encouragement to share details. It should also be noted his predecessor said people who give statements often find the experience "cathartic", so if nothing else he's a great listener.
