Name: Jonathan Sims
True Name: The Archivist
Canon: The Magnus Archives (post episoide 200)
Age: mid 30s
History: His life is suffering
Powers/Abilities: Listed in his permissions but to have it here as well:
Inventory: Clothes on his back (shirt, pants, boots, a leather jacket about one size too big, etc) and all of it is covered in blood, mud, and viscera from. You don't wanna know, actually. He also has an old fashioned tape recorder and a tape that seemingly never seems to run out.
Job History:
Suppressions: Jon suppresses his own happiness. He's also very busy suppressing his instincts as the Archivist of wanting to feed on others' fear, taking only the bare minimum when he has no other choice. He suppresses his anger at being used, manipulated, controlled into situations he never wanted to be in. He suppresses his urge to compel those around him to do what he wants them to do, fearing of taking away their free choice when he has barely had any such thing himself.
Greatest Fear: Losing his full humanity and hurting others around him because of it. Continuing to be controlled by the Web. However unintentionally bringing the Fears to other universes because of his voice.
Greatest Desire: To be "normal" again and live happily with his boyfriend, Martin Blackwood. to truly have the freedom of choice for the first time since he was eight. To know that the Fears are gone for good and he isn't still being used by them.
Greatest Regret: Ending the world even by no fault of his own. Hurting those around him by asking them to be part of the Archive team, by stalking and mistrusting them, by not understanding what he was part of.

Compulsion - The Archivist can, consciously or unconsciously, compel people. He mostly uses it to have them give him statements, stories of their life, or to just answer questions he has. What this means is he can ask them a question, or ask they give a statement, and they will usually answer with little to no resistance (weaker willed humans, anyway). They sound like they're natural answers, just part of regular conversation. Answering via compulsion has also proven to help clear up muddled memories (aka characters remembering Exact dates of things that happened years before, distinct smells, etc) as it pertains to the answer they are giving. It is implied that it can be taken a step further and compel someone to physically do something against their will. However, given Jon's experiences with being controlled, he actively tries not to force anyone to do anything against their will.
Knowing - The Archivist has the ability to Know things about... anything. Notably about people - secrets they have, things they aren't saying, past experiences or feelings. But he can also Know general history, languages, that kind of anything. In season 5, it's kind of joked about being "apocalyptic Google" and keeps being used as a satnav to find people, if that gives a good idea of what he does. The Archivist is not able to know anything about the future, nor is he able to see anything in a hypothetical or a choice. Jon has experienced pain while purposely trying to Know what an Entity is planning and was not able to learn anything. For the purposes of this game, that would equate to him not being able to know anything about the Faction leaders or anyone the mods wouldn't want him peeking on. As another general note, while he may be able to know facts, that does not always mean he understands them or their meaning in a full context.
Omnilingual - Jon has been shown to understand written and spoken languages he has never learned. It is unclear if he can respond in those languages, as he has only ever spoken English.
Archivist's Presence - When the Archivist is present to someone giving a statement, they are able to eloquently and coherently tell their stories in a narratively interesting statement, regardless of their background or emotional state. This is highlighted when Jon is in America and the Archival assistants have to take statements from people. The result is that the statement givers tell short, curt statements, often going off-topic and needing encouragement to share details. It should also be noted his predecessor said people who give statements often find the experience "cathartic", so if nothing else he's a great listener.
Inhuman Healing - The Archivist recovers from physical wounds remarkably fast. The more powerful the Archivist becomes, the quicker the wound heals. When Jon tries to cut his finger off (multiple times in one sitting), the injury heals as soon as he withdraws the knife. That said, if someone he knows very well and is close to emotionally injures him, the injury does not heal and acts as any real injury would. Dream logic, baby.
Feed Your Patron - A sort of nerf. When the Archivist records or takes a statement, wounds heal faster. Jon was able to recover enough from his coma to be able to leave the hospital after reading just one statement. It is a double-edged sword, however. After Jon stops forcing live statements from people, he gets weak and hungry, going through a sort of withdrawal. The longer he goes, the worse condition he falls into.
It should be noted that while these abilities are. Absolutely WILD in the RP sphere, there is a built-in nerf for them as well. Given the Eye is a fear entity of knowledge, being seen/observed, being known, but also of secrets, there are times the Eye does not want Jon to Know things and actively keeps him from being able to Know them. Sometimes it’s by guiding his eyes away from certain things that could give him clues, sometimes it’s by literally brickwalling his ability to See or Know something to his frustration. SO while his abilities are all opt-in, any time he is around someone who does not want him to Know anything, it’s very easy to simply say, “The Eye doesn’t want him to know this”.
